Rapid CD95 death receptor clustering (lower aspect of cell image) following stimulation of Jurkat cells. Similar results were observed regardless of stimulation by death ligand, agonist antibodies or stimuli that upregulate death receptor expression. This rapid clustering phenomenon occurred within 30 seconds to 5 minutes and has been observed by Fanzo et al. in different cell types in cells that were neither fixed nor immobilized, or which were processed through various methods including fixing and immobilization. These investigators also provide detailed protocols as well as helpful tips for blocking artifactual clustering in the absence of death receptor stimulation.
